Large group of friends
the thing abt large group of friends, pple tend not to meet up after the very purpose that held them together is no longer existing.
Not just Army.
Not just NUS.
Not just economics studies.
Not just hostel life.

having went through, hmmmm...
2 orientation groups (1 NUSSU. 1 Temasek Hostel) as a freshman.
a total of 5 groups [3 NUSSU, 1 Arts, 1 (?) Temasek] as a senior. (u can tell that the NUSSU orientations are more fun)
How many of these groups are we still meeting upregularly now and then?
Nil.
Zilch.
Kosong.

I used to be very active in arranging dates and organising events.
but when the economics batch of 2005 graduated, i can't be bothered.
from past experience, I know that no matter HOW HARD i try, the group will simply die.
the few few months, everyone will gosh and gush abt how much they missed each other.
how much they love each other
how much they would wanna meet up again.
blah blah.
i give it at most 1 year.

ohhh sorry, i am supposed to meet my gf/bf/fb lah.
i too tired from work lah (knn, tat day haven't come, u already know u gonna be tired that day)
the most classis is this guy, neofik asked him and he said he has to do Overtime.
On the day itself, i called and he was on his way home on MRT. he said he going home.
where's ur OT!!!!
and i asked him to come, he said he tired.
nevermind that we haven't meet each other for 10,000 years.
nevermind that u just met ur gf/bf/very-good-opposite-sex-friend/fb and u cannot meet this group of friends who u never see for 10,000 years.

and the WORST shit abt organising a group outing.
bloody bloody hell.
1) there will always be pple with a million questions.
"where we going? do wat? eat wat? drink wat? what time? do wat? for wat? then do wat? then do wat? then hor, do wat? then after that leh, do what? then do wat? do we go home? do wat?"
2) there will always be pple SUPER SIAO ON.
"i sure go!!!!"
then last minute never turn up.
3) got some pple everytime need confirmation one.
can confirm number of pple
can confirm location. can confirm the time when its 10minutes to the meeting time
why must confirm pple before u come? you're an adult leh.
why must confirm time? u so busy ah....?
4) sure got pple dun understand a simple question that only require "Yes or No"
they give u 1000 sentences and still no "yes" nor "no".
i very simple one leh, i only binary-trained can?
5) then dun like wat we doing, ask us why we doing that. is it really fun to do that
knn, u so smart, u come organise lah!
i sure follow watever u suggest!
6) OR dun like wat we doing, and offer other suggestions. AFTER i sms-ed, msn-ed 10million other pple.
dude, next time when u organise, u set, ok?
7) then hor. on the day, sure got 100 pple late, last minute ask u where is the location.
say later meet us can. ask us wat we doing.
or wanna change the location
if you feel that you are a lot of the above and I am writing this to mock at you.... don't be silly. a lot of pple act like u. you're not alone. I'm mocking at everyone.

decisions are tough.
last year, i won an award from my insurance company.
i was ushered off overseas for some convention. at there, we took a photo.
now now, that photo was taken using special equipments coz i think there were, err, 300 people in that photo?
it was those kinda of camera that u rotate around a stand, and u have to keep still for many many secounds while the camera scan the whole room. powerful stuff.
well, today, after sooooo many months, they have finally sent me the photos.
everyone's name is listed under the photo (logistic nightmare)....
the photo is HUGE.
wow. its like 2 A4 paper laid length to length.

i spread the photo on my table and took abt 2 minutes before I could find myself in it.
suddenly, at that moment, i feel very small.
i have always feel bigger than life, bigger than everyone.
suddenly, this very photo jolted me.
in the grand scheme of nature, I'm just a minor detail.
don't you feel small sometimes?
don't you feel irrelevant?
helpless?
that life is 1 big question mark?

i gave swiss miss the biggest advice i can ever provide.
i asked her to listen to the Sunscreen song.

sometimes i worry too much.
