Facebook displays ads based on what you chat on Whatsapp
Well it seems that facebook has been browsing the conversations between your friends and you on whatsapp and blasting you with adverts that are relevant to you.
I am a non techy person who do not handle nor know tech words like web hosting, general assembly, UX / UI. but recently I was exposed to adverts on facebook to use "vodien"
Vodien is an internet web hosting company, something that I only learnt recently from a whatsapp group chat, where many tech people were discussing what web host services to use. I was just listening in the chat and was not even participating.
Beside the whatsapp chat, I have never heard and used this word anywhere.
Within 24 hours, I saw some adverts for Vodien in facebook
I was wondering if this may just be a weird coincidence, but after a day of chatting about UX / UI experience, one of the rare times I actually participated in such a technical conversation, I got these on my facebook adverts.
Yup. Definitely not a coincidence.
Here is something for all to read... how all your info are leaked out...
Good luck protecting your privacy!

What is silver stacking?
What is silver stacking?
Silver Stacking (or Gold Stacking) is the habit of accumulating tangible assets, not intangible ones like paper certificates, in the forms of coins or bullions such as bars, rounds or ingots.
Generally bullions such as bar has less premium price, hence it is better value for money since you can also purchase a large bar for cost savings. If you can afford it, you can purchase a large bar monthly.
Coins are favoured usually because it can be smaller in weightage, and hence, easier to start stacking up. It is also preferred as when you wish to liquidate due to needs such as holidays or emergencies, you may not need to sell a large bullion but just a few coins.
Also, coins can carry numismatic value which can be appreciated by collectors.
Why would you want to stack silver?
Firstly, silver stacking is an excellent hedge against inflation, just like gold. It increases in value as inflation reduce how much your dollar can buy. Secondly, both silver and gold possess an intrinsic store of value, which is the main reason why people wants to invest it it. It is this store of value that silver and gold is used as money in the past as well as demanded by national government reserves all over the world.
Also, both gold and especially silver has huge and increasing demands from industrial manufacturers, from our cars to mobile phone to solar panels and generators.
One huge reason for silver stacking is as an investment to profit or hedge against financial crisis. The Great Recession from 2008 has led to huge amount of printing money by the USA government, the Euro bank, and even Japan and China government. There is fear of a global financial currency crisis and people’s currency will lose tremendous value. In a global dollar collapse, hyperinflation will rear its ugly head out. A flight to safety will take root and people with real gold and silver physical holdings will benefit. This is especially so as current paper gold and silver trading is a few hundred times OVER the physical assets silver available. In a big crisis, these paper values may not hold water.
Silver stackers invest weekly or monthly in some form of silvers, knowing that they will profit and sleep well in troubled times. Silver and gold has dropped and stay flat, this is a great opportunity to invest and stack up. Stackers know that the fundamental demand for silver and gold is real, because we using so much iPad, solar panels, smartphones and etc, and yet the mines’ production has been lagging.
Silver Stacking means you buy what you can afford to keep for a raining day. If you just cut down on some luxury spending or gourmet coffee and buy 10oz a month instead, you will have 600oz saved up in 5 years. If silver price move from $17 to just a mere $25, you see an almost 50% increase in your portfolio.
Start silver stacking- www.goldsilvercity.com.sg is proud to offer free delivery at no extra costs.

Why I tried 10 brands of Manuka honey for health?
I love Manuka honey! I eat a teaspoon in the morning and a teaspoon just before I sleep for health benefits such as to boost my immunity.
I am not alone in doing that.
Manuka honey has been used by the Maori community in New Zealand for centuries because of its incredible anti-bacterial and healing properties, and celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johannson are said to be big fans.
“It really adds an amazing glow and your skin is so soft afterwards. It pulls out the impurities—and it’s a nice foundation, especially if you are going to a big event where you want a great glow and you want to take that extra 15 minutes to do a treatment before you put your makeup on. It preps your skin in a really nice way” - Scarlett Johannson
Honey has been known for its special properties for thousands of years. And we have learnt that certain honeys from specific plants have a greater range of attributes than others, and the honey that comes from some varieties of the New Zealand Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium) is one of these.
Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native manuka bush.
Advocates say it treats wound infections and other conditions.
I usually buy manuka honey that has at least UMF 10+, to treat illness such as sore throats, stomach disorder such as stomach ulcer. Scientific studies have shown that Manuka Honey inhibits the bacteria growth!
If you have external wound, you can also apply a little manuka honey to the wound, and dress with a bandage. The manuka honey draws healing fluids and nutrition to affected area and creates a natural thin layer of moisture at the wound surface. Hence when you remove the dressing, you would not damage new regrowing tissues and allow your wound to heal faster.
For daily care, I take a spoonful of honey before meal, once or twice a day. Usually I take one spoonful before I sleep, and 1 spoonful in the morning before breakfast.
This is the most important as PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE, a key feature of manuka honey's anti-oxidant properties. It appears that manuka honey slow the oxidation process in the body, which is associated with many degenerative health conditions.
Manuka Honey may anti-oxidise and protect us from free radical unstable oxygen damage in our bodies.
However, not all honey is made equal.
For manuka honey, I only buy two brands from New Zealand.
I must have consumed more than 10 brands of honey before concluding the two best brands...
there are so many reviews to read, so many things to check, and the best way is to test it on myself.
One is Comvita, the only public listed honey company in the world. Comvita beekeepers are the experts in the honey crop, and the Comvita quality system filters out any low quality ingredients to ensure that only the best honey will make the Comvita Honey quality grade. No other company knows Manuka honey like Comvita.
For a more mid-range price brand, the other brand I buy for regular consumption is Kare Manuka Honey. It is a great brand, direct from the farm and the beekeepers are strictly trained to ensure good quality honey. The activity levels of all Kare UMF® honeys are backed up by guarantee certificates and copies of the relevant laboratory testing certificates and UMFHA certificates.
Kare is one of those family farm brands that you can trust, I buy lots of them as gifts for my business partners and associates. =) You can find Kare at Qoo10 too (www.qoo10.sg/shop/cherub) Just look for Comvita Honey.

I have not put honey on my face though.. LOL. I do use manuka honey based skincare though:- royal nectar face mask and lifting cream (can get it from www.qoo10.sg/shop/cherub)

The only drawback is that due to the high quality, Comvita honey retails for $129 in Singapore! It is certainly a very pricey honey. The good new is that you can get it from Qoo10 at much better rate (www.qoo10.sg/shop/cherub) Just look for Comvita Honey.

Buying Gold Silver Guide – Does Brand matter?
There are a variety of brands available for both silver and gold, so the question on everyone’s mind is:-
Does brand matters?
There are refinery that cast or mint their own brands, selling it as close to spot prices as possible, there are private mints and are government / public mints, there are financial institutes that forge their own brands on gold / silver that is refined by other 3rd parties. There are European brands, Australia brands, Chinese brands etc etc.
Do they matter?
It actually depends on investors’ preferences. Some brands like RCM (Royal Canadian Mint) is reputed with very pure silver at the lowest premium in the market. Certain other brands, would demand a higher brand premium over the metal value of the bar / coin.
Bar / Coin = Metal Value + Premium
As the metal value depends on the spot prices of the gold and silver, you are essentially paying the premium of the brand. RCM has low premium. Certain brands like Panda series from China Mint has a much higher premium for its coins.
Whether it is worth it, it depends on the investor prospector. For example, CML (Canadian Maple Leaf) and ASE (American Silver Eagle) has very low premium over their coins, while Chinese Panda has a high premiums. This premium may not be fixed.
For example, if you have bought CML or ASE in 2011 or 2013 because it costs a lot less than the Chinese Panda series, the current value of CML and ASE in 2015 is still roughly the same as the metal value and the same low premium. Those collectors with the Panda series would be laughing their ways to the banks as the Panda’s premiums has rocketed. Of course this is not a sure thing, so collectors may have to judge their risk-reward ratios.
Another factor is the recognition of the brand. For example PAMP Suisse is highly recognised, especially by the elder generation. Hence PAMP Suisse is seen as a more luxurious brand.
Lastly, in Singapore, for investment silver and gold that investors can enjoy stacking up without paying the extra 7% GST, they have to patronise only certain brands that are considered IPM (Investment Precious Metals). These brands has to be under LBMA’s (London Bullion Market Association) Good Delivery lists. As such, it is important for stackers to buy silver or gold from these lists as you would be buying them a lot cheaper than if you were to buy a jewellery-branded gold bar that attracts 7% GST.
Except for numismatic bars and coins set, all the silver and gold in Gold Silver City are all classified under IPM, and hence has NO addition GST on them. It would be much more financial prudent to start investment without paying this extra 7% tax.

GE2015 - Talents are flowing to Opposition
One of the thing that most Singaporeans, including me, that are fearful of voting for opposition parties is because the quality of the candidates are frightening low. Many candidates oppose for the sake of opposing, whine incessantly and yet do not provide suitable alternate solutions.
A lot of them have questionable backgrounds... the most famous example would be Steve Chia who probably single-handedly threw the opposition back 10 years when his wife lodged a police report when naked photos of their maid were discovered in Steve Chia's computer.
(Steve Chia insisted those were artistic photos)
Fortunately, this seems to be changing....
As early as SG GE2006, I was at the election rally at AMK and I remember some new opposition members were at rally explaining how their decisions to stand for election affects their family.
One candidate mentioned his grandma went on her knees to beg him to reconsider.
I was young, naive and did not understand political history. But I was genuinely saddened that Singaporeans are discouraged to take an active interest in politics. Or rather, discouraged to act in the opposition's interest.
When GE 2011 arrived, Singapore was totally stunned by the new candidates for Worker's Party. There was a list of impressive candidates, most notably Chen Show Mao, a high flying lawyer who Low Thia Khiang persuaded to return to Singapore to join the Workers' Party.
Low Thia Khiang, Sylvia Lim, Chen Show Mao, Pritam Singh, Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap, these 5 highly qualified and educated candidates went on to become the first opposition candidates to win a GRC, a first in Singapore history.

Fast forward to the present, GE 2015 and I am sooooo glad that there are many good candidates in opposition parties now.
Workers' Party has attracted a tremendous amount of good quality, educated volunteers and representative candidates.
Leon Perera stands out extremely as someone who I expect PAP to unveil as their candidates.
He speaks well, with great understanding of the topic on hand and his proposed solutions work well, populist but not financially bad for the country.
And there are plenty more, He Ting Ru, Terrence Tan, etc etc, from corporate lawyers to successful entrepreneurs to senior civil servants.
And I am glad to hear more good quality candidates as well in other opposition parties.
For now, I think the Parties can be divided into three
Majority Party - PAP
Minority Party - WP
Opposition Parties - All other opposition parties.
SDP though is the most unique dark horse. I am having a lot of new respect for Dr Chee... though that would be another blog post.
And here is some eye candies that are relevant to GE2015

Honey - my new superfood!
Recently I have been having a hundred-days-cough and some close friends recommended me to take honey regularly for health. I do not like it at first, since I do not have a sweet tooth and prefer salty food. However, I do feel better in the morning and has a greater energy level. And my hundred days cough has finally stopped, so i guess i am pretty convinced of the healing properties.
I decided to take them regularly and feel so much better at work. Reading about all this honey effect gives me a boost mentally. I learnt that honey has been used in ayurvedic medicine in India for at least 4000 years and is considered to affect all three of the body’s primitive material imbalances positively.
It is also said to be useful useful in improving eyesight, weight loss (i am really curious why!), curing impotence and premature ejaculation, urinary tract disorders, bronchial asthma, diarrhea, and nausea.
Honey is referred as “Yogavahi” since it has a quality of penetrating the deepest tissues of the body. When honey is used with other herbal preparations, it enhances the medicinal qualities of those preparations and also helps them to reach the deeper tissues.
Not just in eastern civilisation that has discovered the health benefits of honey, but western civilisations too:-
“My son, eat thou honey, for it is good” — King Solomon – Proverbs: 24:13
Well here are some famous Health Benefits:
1. Provides relief for cough and throat irritation:
Honey provides a soothingly relief for cough and throat irritation. In a study of 110 children, a single serving of honey was proved as effective as a single dose of dextromethorphan in relieving nocturnal cough and allowing proper sleep. Honey is a natural cough medicine.
2. Honey is Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal:
"All honey is antibacterial, because the bees add an enzyme that makes hydrogen peroxide,” said Peter Molan, director of the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Due to such anti-bacterial properties, honey leads to the next point...

3. Reduce ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders.
Recent research shows that honey treatment may help disorders such as ulcers and bacterial gastroenteritis. Many people likes to take a spoonful of honey to alleviate their stomach disorders.
4. Honey prevents heart disease and Cancer:
There are flavonoids in natural honey. Flavonoids are antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease.

5. Blood sugar regulation:
Honey contains an exact combination of fructose and glucose that actually helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. Some honeys have a low hypoglycemic index, so they would not spike up your blood sugar level. The frutose and glucose combination is very different from those in white sugar and artificial sweeteners.

6. Probiotic:
There is a large amount of probiotic that exists in some varieties of honey. So far, researchers have identity up to 6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria.
7. Increase athletic performance.
In ancient Olympic, competing athletes would eat honey and dried figs to enhance their athletic performance. Modern studies has proved that it is superior in maintaining glycogen levels and improving recovery time than other energy boosters.
8. Honey gives Beautiful skin:
Thanks to its anti-bacterial qualities, honey is very moisturising and nourishing to the skin. Some of the famous and effective products that helps alleviate dry skin or eczema condition are honey-based, such as the Comvita Derma Cream. Another example is the Royal Nectar Facemask, used regularly by Duchess Kate Middleton as well to maintain her beautiful skin. These are great skin products bolstered by the benefits of honey.
9. Heal wounds and burns:
Applying honey to wounds and burns has been proved to be as effective as conventional treatment with silver sulfadiazene. It seems that the drying effect of the simple sugars and honey’s anti-bacterial properties combine to create this effect.
All these benefits I learnt from friends and I hope that you can drop by and LIKE https://www.facebook.com/cherubcove for more such useful health and beauty tips!
Also if you do want to eat some honey, you can get the best value-for-money Kare Manuka Honey here, or if you have a bigger budget, you may want to get the more premium Comvita Honey. Comvita is more expensive but is much higher quality than the usual honey. It uses only high quality ingredients so it is very common for NZ to run out of stocks to export to Singapore.
Thank you humble bees for your hard work!

Politician -Kevryn Lim: do we really need a pretty face?
Many voters do remember Nicole Seah, so much that her political party, NSP, is widely known as
"Nicole Seah Party".
(Actually NSP stands for National Solidarity Party.
For this upcoming General Election 2015, Nicole Seah has voiced out that she would not be running. Hence NSP has lost one of its 'hottest' weapon.
And.... it has launched another hot weapon.
Kevryn Lim.
At first glance, I was wondering if NSP is a serious political party. I was hoping NSP has some serious candidates with important qualities. I mean, this is about the ruling of the nation, and not some beauty contest.
but then the photos keep flowing...
I really hope Kevryn Lim has some substance beside having a beautiful face and fantastic figure. The good thing is that she was an active school volunteer. She has volunteered at the Activ Foundation for a year and went on a volunteer trip for two months in Central America. I would prefer someone with a good heart in the government.
I admit that most of us just dismissed her off just because she is a pretty face. However, who said that a pretty face cannot be capable in politics and in leadership.
Lets hold the judgement for now and let us see what she can offer in the coming election rallies.

Buying Gold Silver Guide - Gold or Silver?
Buying Gold Silver Guide – Gold or Silver?
For all new stackers who wish to start saving their hard earned money in physical metal, the first question usually arise would be:-
Which precious metal?
Well, firstly precious metal is a rare, naturally occurring metal of high economical value. We have used precious metals previous as currency, such as coins and taels. With the creation of modern fiat currency, precious metals are now widely regarded mainly as investment and industrial commodities.
The best-known precious metals are gold and silver. There are other precious metals such as ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and of course, platinum. However, these rare precious metals are rarely traded and less liquid as the 2 most common precious metals known to us – Gold and Silver.
Let us focus on Gold and Silver, which are the popular precious metal in Singapore.
Gold –
Currently as of 16 August 2015, the spot price of gold is SGD $1567.53 per troy ounce (or USD $1114.30)
Gold is the most recognised, most liquid precious metal. Not only is it easier to buy, it is easier to liquidate for cash too. Gold is a popular jewellery, but for investment, we would only deal with investment grade gold, in the form of bullion bars or coins. You can buy pure gold coin or bars from bank, such as UOB head branch, or jewellery stores. These are usually a lot more convenient, almost any jewellery stores would have gold bars of different sizes for sales. Unfortunately, most of these gold bars and coins are sold at a high mark up. The high mark up is mostly because of the high rental costs and branding of the bank or jewellery stores.
You can also visit shops that specialise in bullion gold / silver, the markups are low as they specialise in bullion products and generally has less recognition power compared to UOB or big brand jewellery name like Poh Heng Jewellery. A quick search would reveal many bullion shop such as Gold Silver City in Singapore or Gold Silver Singapore.
Most importantly, the reason why Gold is the top choice of many investors is because it is so recognised in value and easy to liquidate. You can sell gold easily, without too much loss in value. Most banks and jewellery franchise buyback, though they cut a commission for themselves. You can sell to bullion shops, majority of them buybacks. You can visit any pawnshops in your neighbourhood and you can get cold hard cash easily. If you bother to use forums, eBay, carousells or other avenues, you can even get a slightly better price. It is that easy to convert your investment into cash.
The biggest disadvantage of gold is that it is so costly, and it may be difficult for cost averaging when one small gold coin of 1 ounce costs $1600. Thankfully there are gold bars and coins that are smaller. For investment, gold is a bit more demanding on the pocket.
Silver
Currently as of 16 August 2015, the spot price of silver is SGD $21.52 per troy ounce (or USD $15.30)
As you can see, the biggest advantage of stacking silver is that it is light on the pocket. One ounce of silver costs you only a meal at a causal restaurant in Singapore. That is also why Robert Kiyosaki of Best Selling Book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” strongly allocates buying silver, even for workers who are struggling to meet the challenges of rising costs of living. One can afford to stash away a few coins or bars monthly to save up for the future, rather than splurging on movies or costly meals.
Another advantage is that many silver investors find silver to be a higher potential in risk-reward ratio than gold. As the price of silver is so low currently, the chances of it doubling or tripling is a lot more likely than gold. ($1600 SGD double to $3200 SGD is a lot harder than doubling from $22 SGD to $44 or $66) Also there is a good chance the gold silver price ratio may move towards more silver. There are increasing industrial demand for usage of silver in our smartphones, solar panels etc. Hence, there is a lot more speculative return potential on silver.
The biggest drawback of silver is that it is harder to buy or sell. Most jewellery stores do not sell silver, neither do banks. Bullion shops that specialise in precious metals would definitely sell silver coins or bars for investors. In Singapore there are many bullion shop such as Gold Silver City in Singapore or Gold Silver Singapore. It would be difficult to buy silver from convenient locations such as jewellery stores or banks.
If you like to sell your silver for cash, it is definitely more challenging than selling gold. Banks, jewellery stores and most pawn shops do not buy silver, so your only choice is via bullion shops that buy back. You may also sell them via forums and ebay. Thankfully silver is starting to get more recognised, and there are some pawnshops that are beginning to buy and sell silver. Silver would definitely get more traction.
In summary here are simplified pros and cons of gold and silver.
Gold- Pros:
More recognised. Easy to buy and sell.
Gold- Cons:
Higher dollar investment per ounce
Silver- Pros:
Lower dollar investment per ounce
Higher potential risk-reward ratios
Higher potential risk-reward ratios
Silver -Cons:
Less liquid- less locations to sell off.

Tokyo Part 7 - Tokyo Station's goodies and Tokyo Metropolitan Tower
Surprisingly the Tokyo Metropolitan Tower is free entry, offering tourists and residents a good bird's eye view of the city. It is located near to our hotel... took us till the last day to visit. haha.
I was expecting some lousy view, given that it is free, but was pleasantly surprised to find a pretty decent view.
You can see a large patch of forest left untouched, giving the city a much needed green lung.
Couple pose....
And then we went to the Tokyo Station!
The Tokyo Station is a metro station in the heart of tokyo, and it is famous among tourists for the tons of confectionery shops!
There are tons of cakes, cookies, pastries to buy! And all wrapped up in nice gift papers for you to bring home. Tokyo Banana is here.
I spent about an hour shopping and walking around, before realising...
I had NOT even exited the metro station.
That was how big the metro station is. Browsed and shopped like crazy, and we were not even out of the station yet.
Kit Kat, a not so Japanese company that has learnt to embrace the Japanese's attention to variety.
The huge oven behind... baking the pastries fresh for the never-ending customers.
Lots and lots of different brands and different varieties.
Just realised the Tokyo Station is 100 years old...
At the heart of the anime characters area at Tokyo Station, headed by this instant noodle duck!
I wished I had more photos, but I was too tired.... LOL
I was expecting some lousy view, given that it is free, but was pleasantly surprised to find a pretty decent view.
You can see a large patch of forest left untouched, giving the city a much needed green lung.
Couple pose....
And then we went to the Tokyo Station!

Tokyo Part 6 - Shinjuku - horse sashimi and more
Shinjuku is like the extremely busy CBD area of Tokyo.
And its the busiest CBD I have ever seen.
The train station is ALWAYS CROWDED. Even till midnight, 1am plus, I can still see the SAME AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC as if it is daytime peak period.
I am seriously mind boggled by the huge amount of pedestrian traffic....
It was so fascinating, I forgot to take photos.. haha!
Oh well :D
I have lots of food pictures though. Let the food porn begins...
Pork Nabe- Something like hot pot.
but much more plainer and simple fare....
A couple photo with the pork nabe
Horse Sashimi!
Tough and dense meat, very strong tastes along with the garlic condiment at the side.
Interesting that they serve horse sashimi.
Their dumplings! Prepared and cooked as 1 large dumpling, which you tear out the dumplings individually to eat....
Curry udon! I saw a lot of office workers queueing up at this eatery, so we joined in.
The Japanese are considerate people, they provided aprons for you to eat the soup udon, so that you would not dirty your office clothes.
One of our grilled meal at a grill restaurant. Compared to korean grill, it is so much less smoky!
Probably because of the air vent. We left close to the closing hours, and we saw the staff meticulously take down other vents and clean it up.
The meat quality is really good.
This is our last meal before we caught the train to the airport back to Singapore actually. And it was delicious, seafood don, basically a bowl of rice and seafood. and a ricebowl of cooked crab meat.
Issey Miyaki bags - we went shopping, and apparently issey miyaki bags were snatched up every morning, so much that they had to ration out the new bags. Look at the shelf below, completed void.
Much of the clients are Thais, and of course, the China tourists...
Found a 3D printer sold at their electronics store (BIC) Kinda cool, if they had offered shipping, I might have bought this home just to play with it...
Surprised at so many 3D printers sold at a reasonable price.
Samantha Hello Kitty Bags, at a decorated Hello Kitty Staircase...
One of the street wares sold openly. The gadget was dancing around, I tried looking up and around for wires, but couldn't find any.
I am sure there is a simple explanation for this.
The lighting decorations opposite the Shinjuku metro station.
Oh well, thats all for the area we reside in. Ironically, this is the area our hotel is located and yet the place that we took the least photos of all....
