Sheena, my dearest blodger, this is for you.
I have disappointed her by promising to blog some nights ago, and went to sleep instead...(er, tired lah, sorry kay)

and she said she burst out laughing at arts canteen with her friends when they played the Llama song.

Ok, since you like the llama song so much, I guess u will like this nice breakfast song.

The Milk and Cereal Song!!!

The Original one - Milk and Cereal Song
The Asian one - why we asians everything also wanna copy huh...
The "Master Yoda and the Sasquatch" version - Breakfast, milk and cereal for?

Straits Times online, my default homepage, has finally done what I have long suspected since it started its registration drive some months ago.

It is revamping and charging people for access to a more "beefed-up edition", which makes me wonder why the existing online version doesn't contain the full version of the print edition in the first place.

hold the features and extra stuff, then release it together with an increase in price (From $0 to $15 per mth), hence justifying your increase in price.

hmm, in mathematical term, is it not an infinite % increase in price, since the starting price is $0?

This reminds me of years ago, when MacDonald quietly "revamped" the Value meals.

It introduced a range of Winnie the Pooh plush toys to be purchased with a Value meal, meaning that the Value Meal costs more with the bears. After the Winnie promotion ended, the price of the Value meal declined, but not to the lower original price.
Hmmm.......

And the size of the drinks and french fries had been quietly reduced after a similar promotion.

oh well, as mrbrown has put it, the real news is still available free, on the net.

"The world of the Internet has changed the way we consume news and history."

.......

"So as you can see, there is a lot of free stuff online for you to read, especially on Singapore. This Net generation will probably be responsible for documenting Singapore life like it has never been documented before."

Read his article here at Today, which by the way, is still free online or offline.

Sigh, I guess I will migrate to www.asiaone.com.sg for free online local news, once Straits Times become a paid-access-only site.
Asiaone is still SPH-owned, so it'll probably be going the way of Straits Times soon, but oh well, what to do, being the stingy frugal guy I am.

Actually, my home does subscribe to the print edition of Straits Times so I guess i'll be saving a lot of electricity soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I'm on the topic of the our National Newspaper, i think there is nothing as Anti-StraitsTimes as the BigO.
Surprised? well, I was.
The online version of a rock magazine from Asia happens to be a red hot rebel website, from discussing gigs and musics to criticising the policies of USA, europe. There is plenty of anti-Bush stuff around, just check out the right side of the home page.
There is a section "Reformasi", monitoring Malaysia.
And of course, a "won't get fooled again [till the next boo-boo]" section lambasting the PAP.
won't get fooled again [till the next boo-boo]. how appropriately named. heh.
i really like this poster saluting Straits Times. :P
Paris Hilton, one of my favourite blonde (truly deserving her blonde hair), has been a victim again!
Her T-mobile Sidekick II (a PDA that reads email) was hacked and her pictures and contact information from her it mobile device was released on the internet.
cool.
Hilton Apologises to Celebrity Pals
Hordes of celebrities, including Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Anna Kournikova and Ashley Olsen received hundreds of calls after Hilton's T-Mobile Sidekick was recently hacked.
And yes, there is even a domain website (www.paris-hacked.com) collecting all the information from the hacked device and, all the collected responses from emailing/calling the contact numbers of her celebrity pals. u can hear anna kournikova's recorded response when one of the prankster called her.
and yes, u get to see some not-so-family-friendly photos of her topless, and her doing a lesbian kiss with her female friend.
most of her celebrity friends are so gonna change their mobile numbers, now that their numbers are published.
sigh, i hate u paris, now I have to change my mobile number.
Oil in Singapore: Where the hell is it?
help....
okok..before I explain why I have been missing from the blog scene...let me appeal for help...
I think the desperation of the situation is not emphasised enough.....
HELP!!!!
I'm doing an economic thesis for my final year, and its titled "Oil in Singapore: Past, Present and Future".
Damn ambigious title, I know.
As the title suggest, I will appreciate all kind of data, analysis, readings or whoever/whatever can be obtained about the petroleum industry in Singapore
Petroleum ==> Oil refining, oil blending, oil trading (financial trading included), petrochemical, bunkering, jet fuels, oil-rigs/tankers constructions, oil exploration services, oil retailing, oil spot markets, anything to do with OIL in Singapore.
Any smart alec trying to tell me abt palm oil or peanut oil will have his mobile number transferred to my company's telemarketing department.
Oil, the BLACK GOLD! I need help. Email me here!!
can someone swop in and help me complete start my thesis? I have only 1 more month to go....
BTW, I'm single, tall, dark and handsome presentable, and willing to do anything.
Man, I am desperate.
The main reason why I have been absent from the blogging scene is due to my grandfather's death on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year.
Ya, as the eldest grandson, I need to perform many rituals for his funeral, and to be at the wake for the 5 days.
There are many issues for me to blog, from personal feelings and emotions, to musings about chinese culture and values. You do experience some very different forms of emotions and different traditions and rituals regarding Chinese culture, especially when its a death in the family in the middle of Chinese New Year.
Yah, but I never got past the draft mode of blogging. Maybe I'm just collecting my thoughts. Maybe I'm not too sure how should I blog.
I'm too used to blogging nonsenses and funny stuff, suddenly, I'm at a loss in blogging about personal issues.
Or I'm just plain lazy.
Anyone interested to in being a sales promoter for the upcoming IT Show 2005 (10th - 13th March) for Canon Printer/Scanners/AIOs (All-In-Ones), just email me.. My friend is hiring promoters.
Its not a bad job. You get a basic pay and commission on your sales figure.
Plus, you get to know a lot more about printers and scanner technologies, and technical details.
I know, I'm such a nerd.
我猜, 我猜, 我 猜猜 is back!
In case u're wondering, she's 楊丞琳. I LOVE THIS TYPE OF HAIR MAH. of course, avid blogders will know that I have a liking for this type of hair.)
At least 2 different pple have msn me immediately after they saw the TV commericals.
Yes, its back on Saturday, 9:30pm.
Prime-time slot leh, mai siao siao....
the irony thing is, I'll probably have to miss more of it, since its easier for me to catch it at late timing such as 11pm plus, rather than prime-time .
Miss concubine is going Taiwan, AGAIN.
This time, she is going with the 4 Seasons Girls.
One of the thing I learnt from the funeral-in-middle-of-CNY is that we chinese are probably the only culture in the world (correct me if I'm wrong) that values money so much in our life.
In happy times.....
Since the start of River HongBao, the giant statue of "Fortune God" has been there every CNY season.
The organiser decided to have a refreshing change last year and errected a statue of a Monkey (last year was Monkey Year) and oh boy, I heard that everyone who met up with the organiser asked him "WHERE'S THE FORTUNE GOD".
Needless to say, the Fortune God is back this year.
Every now and then, the "Fortune God" spews small pieces of "gold" papers with the chinese words for prosperity, and of course, a number at the back for those 4D lottery buyers.
in unhappy times...
And then in death, we have money to come in again as a form of support and condolences for the bereaved family. Known as "white gold" literally in Mandarin, its a part of our Chinese traditions to give this white gold when paying respect during the wake.
And yes, the Chinese underworld is very money-oriented as well.
we burn lots of paper wealth for our deceased grandfather.
It was tons and tons of "gold" and "silver". We burnt a "car", a grand "manison" that comes with maids, additional cars, and many many boxes of treasures.
almost every ritual involved the burning of some "gold" or "silver".
for the entire 5 days of wake, one has to continually burn "gold" or "silver" at this basin next to the coffin, one at a time, to ease the transition to the underworld.
even in this grieving times, I find it amusing that living chinese singaporeans like to think about wealth and riches.
yes, I'm talking abt the never-ending quest for 4D and Toto lottery numbers.
Yup, the license plate of the paper cars.
the license plate of the Funeral Car on the day of burial.
the license plate of MY CAR which was used to lead the funeral procession.
OK, I must admit, i bought 4D of these numbers too. :P
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And no, I never tio toto or 4D. Damnit.

the show must go on.

You may be wondering....where had Cherub disappeared?

I used to have a simple blog, in which I blogged continuously about my pathetic life.

there was nothing good to read.

Its just complains and whines about my life.

i hate it.

i ended the blog, and start a new blog. again.

it wasn't too long before it spiralled downwards in a never ending cycle of depression.

by the time i climbed and stood up, I promised myself that I shalll write only happy, cheeful stuff in my blog.

if there is depressing stuff, the blog stops.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and yes, thanks for the concern.
and the people who cheer me up continuously, asking me to be as cheeful and entertaining as my blog.
its nice to know tat i'm raunchy. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now to cheer you readers up, here is a few favourite songs of mine.

my personal old favourite, been hearing this song quite a tad.

1) The Llama song! (click here)

Here's a llama, there's a llama

and another little llama

fuzzy llama, funny llama,

llama llama duck

llama llama cheese cake llama

tablet brick potatoe llama

llama llama mushroom llama

llama llama duck

I was once a treehouse, i lived in a cake

but i never saw the way

the orange slayed the rank. (?)

I was only 3 years dead,

but it told a tale

and now listen little child

to the safety rail

did you ever see a llama,

kiss a llama, on the llama

llama's llama

tastes of llama

llama llama duck

half a llama, twice a llama

not a llarma, farmer llarma,

llarma in a car, alarm a llama

llama llama duck

is that how its told now?

is it all so old?

is it made of lemon juice (?)

doorknob, ankle, cold

now my song is getting thin

I've run out of luck

time for me to retire now

and become a duck

2) The Badger Badger Badger song (click here).

i'm pretty amused by the total lack of substance and the even lack of attempt to put any substance in this song,

its ok, i know some boyband songs that are like that.

3) All your base are belong to us (please choose video 1)

If you're in the mood for some techno, this is really good.

It even has the same classic ahbeng's powderful england style.

and if u explore the website, u will see that there are really too many people with photoshop and way too much time on their hand.

geez, don't they have a thesis or two to write?

4) Everyone else has had more sex than me

I really like this.

Great flash. Its really of a music video quality.

with the close-in on face, posing, whatsoever.

And the bunny, u hv to agree, its cute.

In any case, the lyrics are great.

Anyone with this problem of the song, u can email me.

oh, sorry, i mean females only, of course.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes, we are just too dumb to see the obvious.
You can't hide your real intentions/feelings, you may think that its pretty obvious to others, but others may be simply too confused to know.
1 whole year, i'm just taking it, word-for-word, hook and bait.
When they start taking everything u say without doubting it, then all the more you should guide them.
do not, deceive them for ages.
and yes, do not make rational decision for others.
rational decisions are meant to be made after discussion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

the perfect angel is meant to fly.

away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the bonsai is meant to die.
it doesn't deserve any care.
no amt of sorry is ever going to be enough for the bonsai carer.
sorry.
One of the greatest casualty of the merger of the TV stations is my favourite TV show.
the only show I tuned in regularly. Even more regular than Friends.
Why?
Simple reason. Its one of the most top-rated show in Taiwan's showbiz.
Top-rated = EXPENSIVE
now that there is only 1 television media company, who cares if you are watching Channel U or Channel 8?
Why bother buying expensive programs to win the competition?
what competition? Malaysian TV3 ah?
Media Corp
MediaCorp Pte Ltd features prominently(of course PROMINENTLY lah, switch channel here and there, still see mediacorp) in the development of Singapore's broadcasting history. We commenced Radio broadcast on 1 June 1936 and Television on 15 February 1963. Today , MediaCorp is Singapore's largest and most established (how about the"ONLY") broadcaster with a complete range of media businesses spanning TV, Radio, Entertainment Productions, Movie Productions, Newspapers, Magazines, Electronic Media and other broadcasting services. As part of its content-driven strategy, it produces highly-rated multi-lingual and multi-genre local content with a regional reach. We are committed to remain as The Choice in Singapore and the region (definitely THE CHOICE).
Yup this is Singapore, the state with only 1 1 effective TV broadcaster, 1 newspaper company.
Only in Singapore will you open up the media industry BEFORE drafting the anti-competitive codes and rules.
Only in Singapore will you let the media industry suffers losses for years before drafting the anti-competitive codes, and then let the 2 TV broadcaster, newspaper companies merge.
Then the codes for who? for the chicken rice conglomeration ah?
Only in Singapore will the damn obvious "consumer benefits" be notably absent from the benefits and costs analysis of a merger.
What to do? All Singapore companies following the political party example, mah.
i will miss you....
