checks & balances

i suppose the whole blogsphere would be crawling with analyses and opinions of the latest report on the NKF, the pseudo charity that funnel only 10% of their funds to the patients.

i have nothing creative to add, except that in the light of the coming General Elections (would the Bishan-ers get to vote? NAY.), i would only emphasis one point.

Power corrupts.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I strongly disagre with the phrases,

"Power corrupts." and

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

This makes it sounds as if power is the one thing that corrupts the person(s).

IMHO, the person is already corrupted in his heart liaoz. It is just that his corruption is felt more when he ahs wealth and power centred in his hands.

Thus power didn't corrupt the person; it simply gives him more leeway in doing things that are at best ethically questionable in nature.

My 2 cents' worth.

Wish you a Happy New Year in advance.
