I went to my first rally.

Traffic was heavy, and the heavy downpour earlier created more chaos. There were policemen everywhere, probably to direct traffic, though I won't be surprised if they were there, uhm, just in case.....

the field was muddy. Neofik dirtied his leather shoes, and I sunk into the mud several times, in my canvas shoes......

to quote one speaker (as accurate as I remember),

thank you all for coming! Even in this heavy rain, you have gathered. Even when the PAP government gave us such a lousy site!! (Loud applause)

Another speaker:

I'm very touched today, when I look around, i can't see the end of the crowd. And all of you came willingly, we do not have buses to ferry you people here!! (in an apparent mock to the buses ferrying PAP supporters to boast numbers; Loud applause.)

The rally was fairly interesting, the different candidates speak on different issues to reach out to all sectors of the public. One candidate spoke abt corporate governing, and corporate scandals, how it applies to PAP, something that only the educated and the young can understand.

Another memorable quote:

They give you money every time there's election. Don't you wish every year is election year? (Loud Applause). 钱照拿！票照投！！(Take the money, Vote for us anyway!) (Loud Applause)

Actually most of the candidate brought out many important points, although I have to admit, they are definitely not the fiercy sort. I was really looking forward to fiercy issues and huge waves of protests and chantings.

I mean, let's not disappoint the policemen, right?

I waited till this morning to blog about this because I wanted to see how much coverage the WP received in the newspaper. Barely.
Grossly unfair.

1 Rally can reach out to, at most, a few thousand people.

The power of the media is simply not available to the opposition.

1 of the points the opposition brought out was a mere simple fact.
That they are singaporeans and they love singapore.

Its probably to address the fact that the opposition has been condemned by the PAP, as if they hated singapore and would do anything to ruin it.
Many of them have a great future, why would they risk everything to go against the ruling party?

JBJ was a prestigous lawyer. He gave up his career for to become a bankrupt.
Dr Chee Soon Juan holds a PhD, and a cushy job at NUS. Why bother doing all this?

Another speaker:

I am glad for my supporters. There was this supporter, he earns only abt $1000 a mth. And once the election started, he donated $5000 to the Workers' Party. Its just $5000, not $50,000, NOT ONE PEANUT. But its a huge amount of money to him.....

I can't remember the details, but there was this guy who, at the last minute, pulled out of the election'06 because of his 69yo mother objected seriously to him being an opposition politician.
and his family was against it because they don't want his brother's career to be affected by him being an opposition.

Yah, "there is no fear in singapore".

I remember reading these books. Though for the really cheem ones, like LoneWolf and this Party Adventure book (where up to 4 players can play together. siao ah, gather 4 pple to play book-games..... -.-"), I can't be bothered to really roll dices, and "fight battles".


I go into God mode and win every single battle.

@#%#$...read 1 book need so complicated or not....


Anyway, i realised playing the books reflected on my character a lot.

Things I learnt from the way I play gamesbook 10years ago

1) I'm a cheater coz I win all battles
2) I'm too lazy to select my abilities, what strength, intelligence, wisdom, dexterity, aiyah! all FULL SCORE!

I would like to ignore the fact that I'm a cheater, or too lazy to fight battles, but hey, i don't think there is an idiot out there so dumb to roll dices alone and then if he died, he do wat? RE-READ THE WHOLE BOOK AH?? where got pple so dumb?

*wait...err..i'm sure some boys from boys-only schools sure like tat...*

3) ....whooo...this is the most important.

whenever i meet a situation where i have to make a selection, say between choice [a] and [b]. I did this, I would go read [a], but I would let a finger stick in the section where i'm supposed to make the choice.
This is so that I don't lose that page....coz after reading [a] till a certain stage, i would go back and see what does [b] do.

Understand what I'm saying?

so usually choice [a] would lead to choice [c] and [d], and then [c] would lead to [e], [f] and [g], and [d] would lead to [h] and [i].
and there is [b] to go.

If i'm "lucky", one of the route would lead to death *yayy!!* or rather, eventually many of the choices would merge. for example, [c] would merge to same route as [g].
so 1 less finger in the book!!

Okok, if you don't understand.....drink some water and re-read again.
and if you're in office, just read slowly....office time is leisure time anyway.

soooo...my point is, my whole life is a series of "What if".

think its very important to have friends, a few good friends would be nice to walk with you on life's journey.

i am fortunate to have my sec sch friends to amuse me from teens till now. they are the jokers in my life. and to have Neofik, kevin to support me in life's many crisis.

and of course my e3 friends. and a few good ones from university.


but i think after a particular number, additional friends are just for fun. to chat, to entertain, and to make jolly in life.

oh yah, there is always the primrose path of complaining and whinning to some pple who you are not close to. some pple are just great for bitching because they don't know you well!!

and of course, its great to bitch in a blog.

so Absolut had a same problem. he can't stand lending money, esp to close friends that he feel paiseh to ask the money back.

esp when this friend of his, borrowed money and yet refuses to cut down on his expediture, spending even more than him.

I think i got really pissed a long time ago when this army mate borrowed money from me to buy a motorbike.
he promised he would return within a specific time-date.

and of course he didn't.

i was furious, because the money lent was a few hundreds, not a small amount.
and it was for a luxury purpose, not an emergency or serious case.

he didn't return on time, and he didn't bother to alert me in advance.

that was when i learnt that friend-borrowers have this mentality of delaying payments. because it doesn't cost them! no interest, no pressure.

i can't get this mentality coz I just took an advance of $1000 from a business venture. technically its not a loan since I have invested much more in the business, and we are splitting a large portion of the revenue in 2 days time.

but the advance already made me feel awkward. I never like to owe money.

pj said in the last post that when she lent out money, she knew she won't see it again.

this isn't the first time I heard this theory: that when u lend out money, be prepared that you don't get it back again.

i don't know, but when I lend out money, my intention is to help out in times of crisis, and that the borrower has every intention to pay back.....

Tink I realised that debt is something that can easily forgotten, for the borrower that is. Especially debts that are not contractual, there is no legal basis for recovery. Borrowers would always try and delay, or refuse to pay.
Its all in economics....

I recall a particular character, a guy that another friend introduced. Let's call him T-rex. He is very generous with his monies. When he first know me, he brought us to a nice restaurant in Boat Quay, treating us to steaks and stuff.
Begin generous, T-rex has no problem lending out his money whenever his friends need it.

T-rex also happens to be very generous with prostitutes.
He can spend an entire night with a prostitute, buying food and birthday cake to celebrate her birthday.

I was like, "whooo...WTF dude!".

and somemore from what I heard, its just a normal prostitute, not someone that he very close with, or wat.
Not that I want to de-humanise prostitutes, i think they are humans too, working for their livings and definitely a birthday cake would do a lot to make them happy.

BUT HELLO? some of them were just greedy and kept on sponging off T-rex. Talk whole night, complain abt conditions back home.....sigh. There are a lot of pple that need more help lor...

and so he was notorious for spluring on prostitutes.

Anyway, my friend was pissed that T-rex lent out so much money to so-called friends and unable to recover all these debts, although it was fairly obvious that these friends have the means to do so. They simply do not wish to pay back. My friend did not want T-rex to be made use of, so he hammered them and demand money back.

This particular guy borrowed money to buy an expensive motorbike, when being chased for the debt , he said,

"I just don't wanna pay back leh. If i pay back the money, he would simply spend it on prostitutes. For fuck! (editor: ahhh..the irony..) I may as well use his money for a better clause."

You know he got a point.
Money spent on those things are definitely waaaay better than spluring on prostitutes, with risk of STDs and all that...plus....BIRTHDAY CAKES??? (can't get over that...)

but then, that's T-rex money.... its up to him to do what he wants with his hard-earned money.

and I realised how much i hate lending money now.
I loaned $300 out these 2days to 2 person and I know at least $100 is gone.
yeh i know its for a good cause, coz both of them really need the money, thats why I can't say no to them......

i hate being taken for a ride, and being unappreciated.


I HATE ASKING FOR MONEY BACK. its my own money, for god's sake, why am I going through this asking process.

I like to mutter the phrase "god is fair" whenever i find something wrong with a seemly perfect person.

I have a theory here that everyone of us has a flaw, or some unhappiness somewhere. No one can live that wonderful life. No one is that happy.

If this guy has a great academic life, a great career, rich family, he probably can't get a girlfriend that loves him for who he is.

If this girl has a great bf, lots of friends, and enjoys her work, she is probably poor and struggling to make ends meet.

if this guy has a phD, a wonderful career with status, respect, and that he truly loves, and he drives a BMW and has a kickass girlfriend, he's probably gay.

i tell u, god is fair.

My 1st Claim

I sold a hospitalisation plan 3 weeks ago.

As this is a plan using CPF-Medisave to pay for premium, the plan can only be considered activated on the 1st of the next month, with approval and transfer of money from CPF Board.

I drove my client to the hospital on 31st March 7pm plus.
By the time investigation work was completed, and she admitted to hospital, the offical admittance time was "1st April, 00:58am".

wah, super heng. just 58 minutes after interception of policy.

If that is not heng enough, when i drove my client to the hospital, my dad phoned me and told me that my mum had a fall and was in the same hospital as I was driving to.....

I end up driving my mum home.

ok, i'm breaking my hiatus for a short blog, due to a special request from Neofik.

I'm not even talking abt insurance, but for that matter, yes i'm glad for this job coz it made me realised how annoying girls are, on a whole.

I'm talking abt emotions. and behaviour.

if u don't know what u want in your life, go away. don't disturb us.
if u just want to be friends, stop doing those THINGS. yes, unless u're dumb, u know when to draw the bloody line.

dun tell me u wanna be friends after all those OBVIOUS. blah! dun tell me platonic friendships. crap.
and dun accuse the guys of oversensitivity. if all of us can feel that u're interested, and u said "i tot we were just friends!" then err....something is wrong with u.


sometimes I really wonder if we men are truly from Mars and women are from Venus. most guys whom I know that are happy in their relationship either understand that they can never win women's illogical behaviour and so can't be bothered, OR they have very low expectations or IQ.
i have known too many men that are betrayed by illogical and irrational thinking.

while in the hospital for the past few days, I can't help but realised that my singlehood over the years is really subconscious-refusal-to-accept-women. My friend made me realised that I have been finding faults with all girls that got close to me, and that despite all the clamouring for couplehood, all my actions dictate otherwise.

He told me abt this girl whom he thought was very nice and ideal for me, but within hours, i totally rejected any notion, and he was damn dulan with me.
when i think abt that particular girl, i realised she actually quite a decent girl....no reason for me to reject......i think i just dun want to be in a situation where the probability of attachment is too high.
shucks.



anyway, i still stick to my own conclusion, girls, please know what you want.
