Gangnam Style Drawn in animation
Cool.
This is not just because of a video that crosses 1 billion views (and counting).
And not because of the detailed animation.
But because someone is actually bored enough to do draw all these.... TENS OF THOUSANDS of pages?

PAP used to be an Opposition Party.
I would like to remind everyone that the current ruling party of Singapore, the PAP (People Action Party) used to be known as an Opposition Party before 1959.
Yes, that is right.
It was an Opposition Party that seized the day (I would not comment on the moral and ethical 'seizing' that comes with riots, jails and etc that were done by the PAP).
In the end, Singaporeans gave PAP a chance, and PAP has done pretty well, at least in most counts.
An Opposition party does not mean it has less ideas or that its proposals would not work. It is just another route to the destination.
I am all for the sake of preferring the term "Minority Party" instead of "Opposition Party".
Right now, the term "Opposition Party" has a bad feel to it.
Minority Party sounds more correct.... especially when it starts to gain more political mileage.

Ivory Tower Leaders
Its not that we try and see symbolism everywhere. It is because it is so infused with that brand name, we can't help but see it every, single, time.
Ivory - Tower. Get off the shiny bus and mix with the peasants.

Today is Cooling-Off Day, but we can still speculate
Today is Cooling Day for the Punggol East By-elections.
We can still make fun of politicians and political party but I am refraining from poking fun of them, in case funny pictures can actually affect your votes.
Plus majority of the funny pictures are for PAP and Desmond Lim. Kind of unfair.
So which party are you rooting for?
Here are Wise Of the Day's betting odds!!
PAP 1 : 1.8
WP 1 : 2
RP 1 : 1500
SDA 1 : 5000
______________________________________________________________________
And these are my magic numbers:-
51.4% | 42.3% | 3.5% | 1.8%

By-elections Goodies
I think we should have by-elections every year!
Every time there is an by-elections, government suddenly gets generous and dishes out goodies!
I am sure they are part of the national, long term planing and has nothing to do with the by-elections.
Lets see.
National railway network to be doubled by 2030.
Which coincidentally, the Straits Times mentioned in a small paragraph that a fork in the the new Cross-Island-Line would benefit the residents of Punggol.

Timing is coincidentally only, dont think too much.
|
And now.... the baby bonus, paternity leaves that every young couples are fighting and begging for the past few years..
They are coming!
Its just a coincident that Punggol East constituency has large numbers of young couples.
Perfect Timing.
Singapore's government unveiled on Monday a raft of incentives for citizens to get married and have babies.
The enhanced marriage and parenthood package announced by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean raises the money couples receive for having children and introduces paternity leave.
A bigger baby bonus cash gift of $6,000 will be given for the first two births and $8,000 for the next two births from $4,000 and $6,000, respectively.
A CPF Medisave account of $3,000 will also be created for each Singaporean baby "to further support parents in planning for their children's healthcare need" and to encourage MediShield enrolment, the government said in a press release.
MediShield will be extended to cover congenital and neonatal conditions effective from the start of March this year.
To help couples balance work and family commitments, government plans to legislate one week of paternity leave for fathers, who will also be able to share one week of their wife's maternity leave entitlement.
Parents with children aged 7-12 will get two days of government-paid child care leave annually.
Also, to help couples start families earlier, the government announced measures get housing faster.
First-timer married couples will get priority allocation of new HDB flats and such couples with children will be allowed to rent a flat from HDB at affordable rental rates while waiting for their flats to be completed.
“Addressing our falling birth rate requires a concerted effort beyond Government initiatives. We will continue to work with the community to strengthen positive attitudes towards family life. We hope that the enhanced Marriage & Parenthood measures will help create a more conducive environment for Singaporeans to set up families.” said Teo.
The budget for the enhanced package will be raised to $2 billion a year from the $1.6 billion budget for the 2008 package.
The slew of new measures comes as Singapore grapples with an ageing population, one of the lowest total fertility rates in the world at 1.2 in 2011 and a reliance on a large pool of foreign workers that has resulted in much grumbling from its home-grown citizen population.
The announcement was also made less than a week before the country's largest single-member constituency, Punggol East, goes to the polls in a closely-watched by-election that is said to be a test for the ruling People's Action Party.

The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has changed its mind and will not be holding any rally at Punggol East to save cost.
Instead, the party will be using the Internet and social media to spread its campaign message.

Wise of the Day: Ebisu Muscats Live in Singapore 17th Jan 2013
All posts below credit to SG Cafe, Straits Times, and InSing. Links in titles.
Many guys would have heard about Ebisu Muscats, regardless of its members individually or as a group through various sources. But not many have the chance to be able to meet them in person, as SGCafe was able to attend the press conference of the idol group earlier today.
Held somewhere within Resorts World Sentosa, nine of the ladies came to the stage for an introduction of themselves as well as a quick Q&A session with the media presented at the press conference.
Question: Welcome to Singapore! First off, what are your impressions of Singapore thus far?
Ebisu Muscats: It is a very clean country, and the people very warm and nice towards us!

Q: What are the biggest challenge Ebisu Muscats have faced throughout its career?
EB: As you know, it is Ebisu Muscats’ first time performing in Singapore, and thus we feel that not knowing the audience’s response is one of the biggest challenges for us. We also hope that this is a chance to entertain the audience and make it an enjoyable and fun experience!

Q: So for this tour, what have you prepared specially for Singapore fans? How long did it take to prepare for this Asia Tour?
EB: It’s a secret! :giggles: It took us 2 months to prepare this time for our Asia Tour.

Q: It has been announced that Ebisu Muscats will be disbanding this coming April. What do you feel about the disbandment of the group?
EB: To be honest, there have been many false rumour of our disbandment all these while, right up until recently where it is official. And it came as a surprise, since all these while many people have the impression that the official announcement might be just another rumour as well. Of course, all of us are a little sad about the news. But our mentor told us to treat it as a new beginning of our future careers, and to have a positive outlook on the challenges ahead.

Q: In that case, why is it that Ebisu Muscats are disbanding at this point?
EB: Our mentor has advised that it is optimal for us to disband while we are at our peak (of popularity).

Q: Any future plans for your careers after disbanding?
EB: We are happy to be travelling to Singapore as Ebisu Muscats, but we also hope to be able to do the same in the future individually regardless, and be able to perform in Singapore once more.
Nishino Sho: Recently I’ve been involved in a film based in Thailand. As I love to act, it would be really great if there are career opportunities to be able to act in Singapore as well.

Q: What is Ebisu Muscats charming point in attracting their fanbase?
EB: In Japan, we are not only portrayed as a multi-talented idol group branded with the sexy image in mind, but also our forte in variety shows with comedic elements. For Singapore, we wish to portray ourselves as sexy, cute and multi-talented idols. Another strong point is that each of our members have very individual personalities that appeal to different guys, like cute and energetic, matriarch/sister figure of the group, slightly ditsy, and so on.

Q: Do you have different feeling performing at different locations during this Asia Tour?
EB: It is currently winter in Japan and very very cold, while it’s humid in Singapore. Since South Korea was pretty much the same weather as Japan, we immediately felt relieved (from the cold) when we reached Singapore.

Q: Any special beauty regimes to share with us?
EB: Actually, I have gained a bit of weight recently :laughs: Just eat a lot, and sleep a lot.

Kuriyama Mui, a member of sexy Japanese idol girl group Ebisu Muscats, has a special skill she normally shows off on stage: She can tie herself up in rope.
Unfortunately for fans in Singapore, they did not see this at the group's concert here yesterday.
Mui, 24, says she had to leave out her sexy little trick because it is associated with deviant sexual acts collectively called BDSM, or bondage and discipline, sadism and masochism and they were advised to tone down the show.
"I usually perform with rope bondage on, but I was told it was better not to do so," she says in Japanese during an interview at Resorts World Sentosa's Hotel Michael, ahead of their concert.
Ebisu Muscats are a singing-dancing pop group soft porn video actresses and gravure idols, or models in Japan who specialise in sexy shoots and assignments but do not strip.
They were formed in in 2008, as part of TV Tokyo's variety show Onedari Muscat SP!. They will disband later this year, as the programme is ending.
Mui already has post-Ebisu Muscats plans. She says: "I'm known as a rope artist in Japan, and it's very difficult to do. I want to go to different markets in Asia, especially since I have this special technique."

inSing.com - 17 January 2013 6:00 PM“Hello my name is Kaho Kasumi and I love d…” exclaimed the enthusiastic Kaho Kasumi as she introduced herself to a stunned room. Old habits, die hard they say.We were lucky enough to be invited to the press conference at Resorts World Sentosa announcing Ebisu Muscats’ performance in Singapore on 17 January at the Star Performing Arts Centre. Ebisu Muscats are a 30 member Japanese girl-group made up of either former “AV” (adult video) stars, “gravure” (a kind of Japanese pin-up) models or just famous from showing off their 'assets'.Their colourful past aside, they make a brand of music that can only be described as upbeat (and some say cloyingly sweet) candy pop, with names that are equally as colourful ('Banana Mango High School', 'Watashi Mambo'). To underline this, the outfits they chose for the press conference were picked from the neon bright happy side of the colour spectrum.Having to coordinate between the schedules of 30 different girls is something that must be next to impossible. Therefore unfortunately for us, they will not be at full strength at the Singapore concert as only 10 of them are able to make it down for their Asia tour. The bubbly girls are performing in Singapore for the first time and even as seasoned performers, they still expressed nervousness at performing here.“From the comments on our blogs, the responses and comments from the fans in Singapore were warm and friendly,” enthused Show Nishino, the most outspoken member of the group, through a translator.“This is our first time performing in Singapore. We don’t know how many people will come to the show and how the audience will react. We also hope that this is a chance to entertain the audience and make it an enjoyable and fun experience!” added Nishino.(Click on above image to see photo gallery) The girls from Ebisu Muscats. Photo Willie YeoThey were however coy when asked what the Singaporean fans can expect. “It’s a secret!” exclaimed all of them to a fit of giggles.Unfortunately for fans, the band confirmed reports that they were going to disband, making this tour a farewell concert of sorts for the band and fans of the bands.“Of course, all of us are a little sad about the news. But our mentor told us to treat it as a new beginning of our future careers, and to have a positive outlook on the challenges ahead,” said Show Nishino.“Our mentor has advised that it is optimal for us to disband while we are at our peak (of popularity).”

New Facebook Search- Bing it on, Google!
Facebook is really determined to fight with Google.
They just launched "Graph Search", a very different way of searching, via your social contacts.
Google is going to be in with a long fight with the Facebook-Microsoft alliance.
When Facebook recently sent a cryptic invitation to the media to "come see what we're building," it set off a storm of speculation. A Facebook phone? A redesigned site? New headquarters? A new search function?
Turns out it was the last. And it could be big.
At an event at the company's Menlo Park headquarters on Tuesday, founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled "Graph Search," a search engine that mines your Facebook connections to give you personalized answers to queries about people, photos, places and interests. Unlike Google, it doesn't search the Web—it searches Facebook. Here are some of the questions that Zuckerberg asked and the search engine answered, as reported on the Twitter feed of my colleague Farhad Manjoo, who is attending the event:
- My friends who live in Palo Alto and like "Game of Thrones" (interests)
- Photos of me and Priscilla (relationships)
- Friends of friends who are single men in San Francisco and who are from India (dating)
- NASA Ames employees who are friends of Facebook employees (recruiting)
- Photos of Berlin, Germany in 1989 (history)
- Movies liked by people who liked Mitt Romney (research)
- Bars in Dublin, Ireland liked by people who live in Dublin, Ireland (travel)
Results for "Photos of my friends before 1999."
Courtesy of Facebook
In short, Facebook's search will attempt to replicate the experience of being able to ask a question of all of your friends at once, as if they were all gathered in one room. And it actually goes beyond that, because it includes information from people you've never met, provided they've made it public (or available to friends of friends, or people who live in your city, etc.). And, of course, Facebook can recall and organize the information automatically and instantaneously in ways that your friends couldn't. Zuckerberg said Graph Search will honor everyone's privacy settings, so that it accesses only information that you would be able to see otherwise on the site.
This is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for from today's announcement. Zuckerberg called in the "third pillar" of the Facebook experience, with the first two being the newsfeed and people's timelines (formerly profiles). It fits perfectly with his stated mission of making the world more open and connected. And it promises to deliver information that you could obtain no other way—certainly not from Google.
How well it all works will depend not only on Facebook's execution, but on how much information people make available on the site. That makes it all the more crucial that Facebook regain the public's trust going forward. The more information people set to "private," the less worthwhile the search results will be.
Facebook is rolling out Graph Search in beta form beginning today for a limited number of Facebook users. Zuckerberg said it will initially be advertising-free. But if it succeeds, it could be the move that solidifies Facebook's position among the Internet's "big four," alongside Google, Apple, and Amazon. More importantly, it could be the first new Facebook feature in a while that people actually really like.
Oh, and get what happens when you search for something that it can't find in your social graph: It delivers Web results via Bing.
Search results for "People who like things I like."

Another telco network problem. Again.
Today, large areas of Singapore has no 3G coverage for M1 customers. As of today, it is still unsolved. My colleague's M1 phone is now an official gaming machine only.
Not sure why there are 240 Likes. |
Singapore's smallest telco M1 has suffered a partial disruption on its 3G network, preventing some of its customers from using services such as voice and data.
In its Facebook post at around 6am Tuesday, the telco advised customers to switch their devices from its 3G network to its 2G one, and promised further updates when full service is restored.
"One of our mobile network switches is impacted by a power problem and mobile services to some of our customers may be partially affected. We are in the process of restoring service and apologise for the inconvenience," M1 said in the post. 4G services for some users appear to have been hit as well, according to comments on the post.Affected areas included Pasir Panjang, Tuas, Tiong Bahru, Bukit Batok, Jurong West, Jurong East, Queenstown, Clementi, Boon Lay, the users added. In response to ZDNet queries, a M1 spokesperson said: "Our engineers are still working with utmost urgency to restore full service and part of this process is to divert traffic to another switch."

Sigh. We are already having problems with our MRT lines, from both operators, the experienced SMRT and the newbie SBS Transit.
Telecos also giving us regular headaches.... not just M1, but starhub and Singtel.
As a Starhub user, I can say that at least 30% of my calls are routed to "Missed Calls". It is extremely annoying.
There are already 3 old blogposts about the sorry states of our telecommunication.
3G havent even settled down and they are rushing out LTE (4G)....

There had been much speculation that the Worker’s Party could be fielding Non-Constituency MP (NCMP) Gerald Giam for the Punggol East by-election instead of the party’s deputy webmaster and previous candidate for the ward, Lee Li Lian.
So when both Giam and Lee entered the party’s headquarters together for the scheduled press conference on Monday morning, the media was left playing the guessing game till the last minute.
In the end, Lee was officially introduced as the selected candidate by party chairperson Sylvia Lim.
Political observers are not surprised at the decision and believe the party has selected the right person to be its candidate.
Former Nominated MP Siew Kum Hong said, “I always thought that the Workers' Party should go with Li Lian, to maintain continuity with their choice for GE2011 and demonstrate their faith in and commitment to her as a candidate.”
When asked if Giam may have been a better choice considering his experience in Parliament and higher media profile as an NCMP, Siew said Giam may have better exposure in a short-term tactical sense but noted that “his Parliamentary record also opens him up to potential attack, for instance in relation to his performance during the Ministerial salaries debate.”
“From a longer-term macro perspective, I think Li Lian was the better choice, because it gives better positioning to the Workers’ Party as a party,” said Siew, who also noted Lee’s experience in contesting the Punggol East ward in 2011.
Calling the decision to field Lee an “honourable decision,” veteran newsman and media consultant PN Balji told Yahoo! Singapore that “Lee is familiar to Punggol East residents and did quite well there in the last polls.”
Lee managed to garner 41 per cent of the votes at her last outing at the ward during the 2011 general election, though she lost out to the People’s Action Party’s then candidate, Michael Palmer, who won 54.5 per cent of the votes.
Her surprisingly good performance was also cited by former Nominated MP and sociologist associate professor Paulin Tay-Straughan from the National University of Singapore.
“You could argue that the Workers’ Party is leveraging on her past experience at Punggol East. Forty-one per cent of the votes is significant for a relatively unknown candidate and she was up against a much more experienced People’s Action Party (PAP) candidate, Michael Palmer,” Tay-Straughan said.
Both Siew and Balji expect Lee will likely campaign on the need for more opposition voices in Parliament.
Lee will be up against the PAP’s Dr Koh Poh Koon who has been already been busy pounding the ground at Punggol East ward since he was announced as the ruling party’s candidate last week.
But she might have more opponents to face, if candidates from parties such as the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), Reform Party and others join in the battle for the single-seat ward come Nomination Day on 16 January.
Political analyst Eugene Tan said that the Workers’ Party will try to show how different Lee’s contribution would be if she is elected.
“Others might say, ‘do you want the same voice?’ since the Workers’ Party already has eight voices in Parliament. If it’s a three-cornered or multi-cornered fight, the party may want to show how Lee has a different voice perhaps,” said Tan, who is also a law lecturer at Singapore Management University.
Tan believes the fight at Punggol East will be a two-horse race between the Workers’ Party and the PAP, even if others join in the battle.
“The others run the danger of faring very badly or even losing their deposits,” he warned. “Even if SDP sends their candidate, the opposition supporters are likely to stand behind just one candidate and that’s likely to be Lee.”
To all readers: Pls vote for PAP so we can have more good years ahead! =D

Many Opposition members really need to wake up
First the PM Lee said there are many national issues at hand, and he may not call for by-elections because it is distracting.
then now got 1 big AIM saga.... 14 town councils involved. Transparency of town councils, question of whether political parties can own companies, and interests of country vs interests of party....
this one not National Issue, then what is national issue..... punggol coffeeshop $0.10 more expensive is national issue?
Now got 1 big national issue, PM Lee calls for By-Election so that he can get it over with and go on with his national issue.
Ok lor. You happy can liao.

I think the problem with the "Opposition" umbrella is that every mother father's son who dislike the ruling party thinks that he is fit to be an opposition party politician.
And almost every father mother's opposition party accepts any politician-wannabe.
So there is no good QC for the umbrella "opposition" umbrella.
And that harms the opposition a lot.
There are simply too many wannabes (refer to the "experienced politican" in the video), too many attention-seekers (refer to above Mr Zeng Guoyan, 1:11) and too many incapable people.
Yes I know you guys are a brave lot, but do not mistaken "unhappiness" with "better".
Being unhappy with current rules and politics doesn't mean you can do better.
(Refer to most football fans, especially the EPL fans)
The current by-elections really revealed many oppositions to be nothing more than attention-grabbers and desperate plotters.
Yes I am looking at you, Reform Party.
And yes, SDP and SDA, you guys are not much better, given the years of experience you shared.
Stop trying to grab every limelight. Stop desperately trying to elbow your way in.
Stop reminding Singaporeans how majority of the opposition members are really losers.
WP has been fighting in Punggol East. Leave it to them to battle it out with PAP.
