I read about the Robot Restaurant on TripAdvisor, and at first I thought it was a restaurant served by robots. I read the reviews and realised the robots are there for entertaining the diners, and oh boy, it is totally beyond what I thought!
The robot restaurant is so cool, it deserves its own blogpost.
Get ready for many many photos, loud and bright.
The videos are all at the next blog post, which would be edit and posted in the next few days
Enjoy!
Here are all the photos....
At the small shop front where they sell tickets, the walls are covered with photos of celebrities who visited the robot restaurant. I couldn't recognise most of them though...
More photos at the wall...
In land scarce Japan, the performance area is actually away from the prime retail front. I have to climb many stories to reach the performance stage. Not too sure if its 4th or 5th storey. As you can see from the photo, the staircase itself overwhelm you with tons of colourful garnishing...
Every single story, every steps, every inch of the wall screams at you...
Sometimes I don't even know I am walking up or down...
Finally we reached the performance, audience sits facing each other, with the performance area in the middle.
We can exchange our vouchers for 1 beer or drinks, and also a bottle of water/tea comes with our bento dinner set. The bento dinner is nothing to cheer about, its just packed food, think we barely finish half of it.
The beer lady, you can buy more beer. She actually walks around with a backpack of beer, and serves you right at your seat during the breaks in between the shows. There is also a guy walking around sell snacks.
These are some of the gigantic robots parked at the side while we settled down for dinner. I must admit, I was not too impressed by these "robots".
These are parked opposite, with the large drums.
Well, at least the drum floatcar looks high and mighty.
The float car lines up, and an American emcee takes the stage and introduce the show. Kinda weird that an American is working there introduces such an uniquely Japanese show... lol
Wooo... show time!
And the colourful lights come out brightly!
They look good in white hair.
The opposite side has red hair. I forgot to take photos, but you can probably see them in the youtube videos to be posted later.
Cowgirls on large shiny horses (wait, I think they are Unicorns?) and belting out an American pop song....
One of the interesting aspect of the show is that it jumps between fast-paced segment and mellow shiny blue segment...
A short break and the stagehands work fast to put up the new posts and chain fences.
Here comes the fighting robots. Two robots in a boxing ring, and a volunteer is selected from the audience to man 1 robot to fight the other one.
BTW, notice the new chain fence surrounding the stage, the stagehand works fast, and these extra fences/decorations add on to the atmosphere there...
The real Japanese emcee is introducing the enemy and asking for volunteer..
Here is our brave volunteer from the audience.
The audience member is seen sitting in the robot nearer to the camera.
Some fierce anime fighting robots?
Ok, here are the cute anime characters coming.. i guess they are the good guys.
The show here gets really entertaining, with Anime themed robots coming out to fight the enemy, then one side get defeated (not necessary the bad side) and a new character will come in.
One of the defeated.
I have no idea what she is sitting on, but she is here to save the day!
She fights and launched something against the enemy!
Again, I have absolutely no idea what was launched, a spider?
Uhm, explosion and the enemy died? lol
Another anime shark rush in!
And a giant snakes come in to fight with its fangs....
Some weird bad guy in pseudo steam punk machines.
This is the sexy lady on top and controlling the snake.
The snake bites the enemy lady and dragged her off....
The metallic robots walk in...
With sexy japanese in knee high boots gyrating to the music!
Here comes the bright lights again!
More bright lights...
This robot has a LCD screen in its chest...
Many dancers together with the robots,
Unfortunately my photo was taken at the wrong timing just when she faces away from the camera. She looks cute in real life.
Dancers dancing and we are now equipped with light sticks to wave....
You can tell that I took many photos... too bad most of them are unclear.
The dancers lining up ..... for...
The unicycle badass!
LOL. the bright lights really blinded me...
Just enjoy the show....
Now the arrival of these gigantic robots, controlled by 1 person, each.
The staff will use his hands to motion and control the large robot.
To be honest, I think its fake.
I highly suspect it is just another man inside the "robot" to walk and move the machine. It seems cheaper and easier than a motion-controlled robot.
And I have walked around such robots, It has enough space in the interior for 1 person to "wear it"
Am I right guys? So much easier for a guy inside to move the robot than to build a motion controlled robot.
Yeah, audience were allowed to come to the performance area and take photos with the posing robots.
If Im not mistaken, this robot has a LCD screen in front...
The emcee also takes photos with the audience.
Ok keep the robots, let the dancing girls come back!
And roll in the motorbikes!
And the really huge motorbikes!
And clownish guys...
Bright lights!!
Oh gawd, they are wearing lights on their clothes...
Haha hope you enjoy the Robot Restaurant, lights. colours and more lights!
To end it off, here is the great, fantastic, shiny toilet....
Yup, they go all out, even the toilet is bling-bling. Its so shiny, I almost couldn't bare to use it!
