i am fortunate to have my sec sch friends to amuse me from teens till now. they are the jokers in my life. and to have Neofik, kevin to support me in life's many crisis.

and of course my e3 friends. and a few good ones from university.


but i think after a particular number, additional friends are just for fun. to chat, to entertain, and to make jolly in life.

oh yah, there is always the primrose path of complaining and whinning to some pple who you are not close to. some pple are just great for bitching because they don't know you well!!

so Absolut had a same problem. he can't stand lending money, esp to close friends that he feel paiseh to ask the money back.

I think i got really pissed a long time ago when this army mate borrowed money from me to buy a motorbike.
he promised he would return within a specific time-date.

and of course he didn't.

i was furious, because the money lent was a few hundreds, not a small amount.
and it was for a luxury purpose, not an emergency or serious case.

he didn't return on time, and he didn't bother to alert me in advance.

that was when i learnt that friend-borrowers have this mentality of delaying payments. because it doesn't cost them! no interest, no pressure.

i can't get this mentality coz I just took an advance of $1000 from a business venture. technically its not a loan since I have invested much more in the business, and we are splitting a large portion of the revenue in 2 days time.

but the advance already made me feel awkward. I never like to owe money.

this isn't the first time I heard this theory: that when u lend out money, be prepared that you don't get it back again.

i don't know, but when I lend out money, my intention is to help out in times of crisis, and that the borrower has every intention to pay back.....

Tink I realised that debt is something that can easily forgotten, for the borrower that is. Especially debts that are not contractual, there is no legal basis for recovery. Borrowers would always try and delay, or refuse to pay.
Its all in economics....

I recall a particular character, a guy that another friend introduced. Let's call him T-rex. He is very generous with his monies. When he first know me, he brought us to a nice restaurant in Boat Quay, treating us to steaks and stuff.
Begin generous, T-rex has no problem lending out his money whenever his friends need it.

T-rex also happens to be very generous with prostitutes.
He can spend an entire night with a prostitute, buying food and birthday cake to celebrate her birthday.

I was like, "whooo...WTF dude!".

and somemore from what I heard, its just a normal prostitute, not someone that he very close with, or wat.
Not that I want to de-humanise prostitutes, i think they are humans too, working for their livings and definitely a birthday cake would do a lot to make them happy.

BUT HELLO? some of them were just greedy and kept on sponging off T-rex. Talk whole night, complain abt conditions back home.....sigh. There are a lot of pple that need more help lor...

and so he was notorious for spluring on prostitutes.

Anyway, my friend was pissed that T-rex lent out so much money to so-called friends and unable to recover all these debts, although it was fairly obvious that these friends have the means to do so. They simply do not wish to pay back. My friend did not want T-rex to be made use of, so he hammered them and demand money back.

This particular guy borrowed money to buy an expensive motorbike, when being chased for the debt , he said,

"I just don't wanna pay back leh. If i pay back the money, he would simply spend it on prostitutes. For fuck! (editor: ahhh..the irony..) I may as well use his money for a better clause."

You know he got a point.
Money spent on those things are definitely waaaay better than spluring on prostitutes, with risk of STDs and all that...plus....BIRTHDAY CAKES??? (can't get over that...)

but then, that's T-rex money.... its up to him to do what he wants with his hard-earned money.

and I realised how much i hate lending money now.
I loaned $300 out these 2days to 2 person and I know at least $100 is gone.
yeh i know its for a good cause, coz both of them really need the money, thats why I can't say no to them......

i hate being taken for a ride, and being unappreciated.


I HATE ASKING FOR MONEY BACK. its my own money, for god's sake, why am I going through this asking process.
