Ready for battle

The SBO, skeleton battle order.
where we keep all our battle essentials.

2 water bottles of course, 1 pouch behind for impt stuff like poncho (& hammock, haha)

and of course, lots of small pouches in the front for important stuff like magazines (magazines that hold bullets, NOT 8Days or FHM), smoke grenades, frag grenades.

but of course.....i decided that i would be better off holding other impt stuff.

Secretary of Reservist

2 weeks of reservist really wreck havoc in your work life. man.

after 2 weeks of ahem, very-tough-but-absolutely-necessary-for-my-beloved-motherland training, I went back to work on a very tight schedule.
lots of backlog of clients to finish up, a lot more new clients to find, and lots of AHEM, UNNECESSARY meetings.

sigh. if my boss or colleague read this, i'm so dead.

i haven't been blogging so much coz I'm too tired from work nowadays, but yeah! i've finally managed to upload most of my pictures successfully.
in the next 24 hrs, i promise a very interesting army blog. with declassified photos....

you learn abt bangladesh workers foreign workers (i am not sure if they are indians or bangladesh), sex in the jungle, and how much food we eat.....

i know u only see "SEX IN THE JUNGLE".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and while I was in reservist, my sweet secretary quit.
sigh. she has been a wonderful secretary.
too bad she is in search of greener pastures....and heya Miss Sweetie (thats her name actually), all the best in your career, be it singing or wedding planning, MAYBE BOTH!!
the new Wedding Singer!!
LOL.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

so I met the new secretary today, and she was rather chirpy.
very nice girl, ahem, on the very first day she knew me, she promptly volunteered to matchmake me with her friends.

WAhahhahahaha. I LIKE HER ALREADY.

so she asked me wat kind of girls i like.

this kind lor.

i'll give anyone a tiffany if i get matchmade with such a girl. =)

of gay Food and SAF picnic...

i went to the cowboy bar chalet......to celebrate their 1st year anniversary.

needless to say, it was damn fun. the barflies are really friendly, and well, playful.
playful with tons of alcohol, may I add.

i had to down 1 cup of really thick vodka as an newbie ceremony. think they really can drink..even the fruit punch is spiked with alcohol.
think its rather nice to know so many interesting and damn funny pple....off the internet.

hey, bloggers not all abt sex and flaming ok!!

oh wait...i forgot that the barflies always turn forum threads into sexual stuff......
ah nvm. and of course it was great to meet Zeus, the god of all gods.

the best line of the day, when He saw me eating Hello Panda (small cute animal cookies with chocolate inside)

why you eating this gay shit!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
one big irony i found during reservist.
yes, i can actually be physically fit (in fact, i seem to run faster for 2.4km run than when I was still in the army), AND still hv a small tummy.
yah lor...i really got a bulging tummy. only a small one, i insist.
dun understand how a guy who swims, runs regularly, who does 200 crunches per day can get 1 bloody tummy.
damn gross can. 1 skinny guy with protruding tummy.
YES, LOOK LIKE THOSE MOVIE ALIEN rite.
u know those with big oval eyes those kind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tomorrow its a start of a new exercise.....
a military exercise
a Brigade exercise (NS pple would know the bigger the exercise, the more siongness...)

sian leh. 4 days outfield leh.

4days without bathing, without a good bed, without pr0n, without good food.

4days without internet!!
@^%#@%#@
how to survive without MSN?

kk...at least i'm gonna make it as enjoyable as possible.

SAF picnic.

Fighting for my Land.

I'm on national duty for 2 weeks, hence the lack of blogging.

but tons of photos coming up. (as requested by blogder Steff)
eh. no nude photos of me though, I am quite SURE that you guys won't wanna see nude photos.

but of course if u are really interested, email me or leave a comment. we can work out a mutually beneficial arrangement.

[this arrangement open only to females, so those brokeback guys, go awaaay.]

So there, wait here...lots of army photos.....and some other interesting photos coming gradually in the next month (I'm a slow blogger).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things I learnt so far:
1) when you wear green, u feel sleepy immediately.
2) vulgarities are part of the package.
3) everyone cannot think properly in green
4) u can sleep ANYWHERE when you wear green.
  • dirty concrete floor
  • in the corridor
  • dusty mattress (with no bedsheets)
  • standing up. Neofik did this.
did i mention that wearing green makes u very sleepy......
i need to go sleep.....now...
Budget FY2006
Election Budget 2006 is out!
*ahem*
hmm, this year's Budget is full of goodies, and from what I understand so far, nothing bad is coming.
*ahem-2006-is-election-year-ahem*
Well well, let's see.
1) Progress Package.
This is by far, the most obvious feature of the Budget that screams "ELECTION".
Hey, they are not even coy about giving money.
Growth Dividends
It used to be "Shares" (New Singapore Shares, Economics Restructuring Shares), to give citizens a sense of belonging in Singapore (Inc.). Now, as part of the Progress Package, they are giving CASH.
Growth Dividends - You don't even need to go to the local bank or ATM to indicate that you want to cash out your shares. It is given to you as CASH.
$800 for most people (45% of citizens), $600, $400 or $200 for the rest, depending on income and wealth.
$800 COLD HARD CASH leh..... Suddenly, I love the PAP already....
Wow. what is this ringing sound in my head....."election, election, election....."
[Note: this Growth Dividend is given to all Adult Singaporeans. You don't have to do anything, just wait for a letter from CPF in March for instructions on how to sign up for the Progress Package]
Oh btw, New Singapore Share was pioneered in 2001.....wait, i am sure its a coincidence that 2001 was an election year as well.....
  • Workfare Bonus
  • Rebates for Lower income
  • CPF Top-up for Elderlys
  • Opportunity Funds for Students.
  • NS Bonus (CASH for us! this time the amount is much bigger. $400 for people who have completed their NS cycle. i hear M16 gunshots amidst the yells of "election")
Wow. Incentives for EVERY SINGAPOREAN!!
3 Cheers for the Election, sorry, Progress Package!
2) Additional CPF Housing Grants
hey if all the Upgrading Projects is not enough for you guys to vote us back in power, maybe I'll make HDB flats cheaper than you!
"cheaper than market price", that is. I am sure many are not aware that "subsidised" HDB flats are not necessarily more expensive than construction costs.
"subsidised" means its cheaper than market prices.....
Oh well, no complain about this, since its abt helping the poor to get a roof.
3) No increase in Tobacco and Liquor Tax
This is such a gem, I have to admire the government this time. Tobacco tax has been increasing steadily 20% almost every year, and most of us have come to accept this as part and parcel of life. Smokers always get a bad deal out of the budget.
but guess what, so many uncles and aunties smoke...and smokers are voters too!!
very discreet.
4) Budget Deficit
By now, most Singaporeans would have accustomed to the PAP's reputed distaste for budget deficit. Every now and then, an opposition politician would call out to give out more, help poorer singaporeans more. But the government would point to the Budget and claimed that their hands are tied. This is a government that strives very hard to maintain a positive Budget.
In fact, when many governments all over the world adopted a budget that includes proceeds from land sales (an accountancy practice which UN endorses, if I'm not wrong), our Singapore government refuses this practice, transferring land sales revenue to other part of the government (reserve?). Even with this, the government does its very best to maintain a positive Budget, so that the reserves would continue to grow and serve as an alternative to natural resources that we are so lacking.
This is what make this year's Budget so interesting.
There is a $0.4 billion overall budget surplus for FY2005, and a projected surplus of $0.7billion before Special Transfers for FY2006.
HOWEVER, this surplus would turn into a deficit to the tune of $2.9billion after taking into account Special Transfers, which include the Progress Package, top-ups to the endowment funds, and investment in R&D.
A deficit-abhorring government endorsing this budget?
PM Lee assured the House that the Government will be able to finance this deficit from funds accumulated in its current term and will not need to draw on past reserves.
Well...at least they are sticking to their guns on not touching the reserves.
I love Election Budgets. now now, if only democracy works every year instead of 4...
