PAP used to be an Opposition Party.

I would like to remind everyone that the current ruling party of Singapore, the PAP (People Action Party) used to be known as an Opposition Party before 1959.

Yes, that is right.

It was an Opposition Party that seized the day (I would not comment on the moral and ethical 'seizing' that comes with riots, jails and etc that were done by the PAP).

In the end, Singaporeans gave PAP a chance, and PAP has done pretty well, at least in most counts.

An Opposition party does not mean it has less ideas or that its proposals would not work. It is just another route to the destination.

The 1959 elections that changed PAP from Opposition to Ruling Party.

I am all for the sake of preferring the term "Minority Party" instead of "Opposition Party".
Right now, the term "Opposition Party" has a bad feel to it.
Minority Party sounds more correct.... especially when it starts to gain more political mileage.
